Social Gathering

Roni Golan’s Underground Art Gallery

It was an outstanding night for Temple Beth-El members on Saturday, August 26th. We gathered at Roni Golan’s Underground Art Gallery for a great night of conversation, music, and some tasty food and drinks. We viewed some of Roni’s masterful artwork that are displayed throughout this cool venue! Rabbi led us in a wonderful Havdalah service at the start of the evening. Our own Jonathon Rozman’s amazing violin playing, along with some wonderful guitar music, enhanced our evening by far! But the highlight of the evening was being able to share our creative ideas on canvas! With the theme of “the Sabbath” and Roni’s encourage-ment, we all added our artistic talents, and a new piece of artwork was begun. Roni then adds his flair and masterful talent to the painting to create the finished product. Stay tuned, as it will be hung in the social hall for all to enjoy. We want to thank Roni for his creative talents and venue for a fabulous social gathering for TBE. Everyone at Temple Beth-El will defi-nitely treasure the finished work of art for years to come.

Celebrating nearly 50 global cultures in Rockford, the 4th annual Midtown Ethnic Parade & Festival is not to be missed! It’s a big party featuring the many diverse cultures in our city, including a parade of colors & customs – dancing dragons, bagpipes, ethnic dance troupes, music and more – at 501 7th St. Feast on delicious international cuisine, relax in the beer garden, and enjoy the entertaining performances!, Plus, visit the Ethnic Art Show (select a purchase from a wide variety of creative works), trace your family’s roots at the Genealogy Room, and keep the kids happy at the children’s play area, The festival begins at noon, and the parade from downtown to Midtown begins at 1 p.m. Will we see you here?

The Jewish Federation is one of the core group organizers for this community wide event. People who participated last year had a great time. We were filled with pride as we walked in the parade with our complimentary Rockford Jewish Community tshirts. It was nice to have the Jewish community represented. This year the festival and parade will be bigger with more ethnic groups participating. Participating in the parade and festival is a wonderful way for us to connect with other ethnic groups in Rockford. Please walk in the parade with us. We need you and it is lots of fun!!
